. Recent Rumors Have Suggested That Conner's Genetic

Joshua Orpin, who plays Conner AKA Superboy on DC's Titans has taken to Instagram to shut down some season 4 casting rumors. While his character was first teased in the Titans season 1 finale, Australian actor Orpin did not join the show's ensemble cast until season 2. A genetically engineered clone created by Cadmus Labs from the DNA of both Superman and Lex Luthor, Conner possesses both the abilities and personality traits of both men.

Last year Titans made the move from the now-defunct DC Universe streaming platform across to Warner Bros. own HBO Max platform. The characters themselves also saw a change of home, swapping San Francisco for the dangerous streets of a Batman-less Gotham City following the death of Jason Todd at the hands of the Joker. Following the popular Red Hood comic storyline, however, the Titans would soon discover that Jason was resurrected by Scarecrow's Jonathon Crane and had fallen under his influence.

With season 3 ultimately seeing Crane recaptured and safely incarcerated back in Arkham Asylum, fans are already wondering who the show's next big bad will be. Recent rumors have suggested that Conner's genetic donor and Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor, may possibly be the next in line to assume the mantle. When additional rumors circulated that the show was potentially eyeing Bruce Campbell or Cary Elwes for the role, Comicbook reports that Orpin took to Instagram to suggest "this one's gonna age like milk."

Over the years, numerous actors have brought the DC supervillain to life on the big screen, including Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg. Meanwhile, on television, the role has also been played by the likes of Jon Cryer and Michael Rosenbaum. While fans could imagine the possibilities in having The Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell tackle the iconic role, The Princess Bride's Cary Elwes probably seems the more likely casting of the two. If Orpin's reaction is any indication, however, it seems unlikely that either actor will cinch the role.

Of course, this does not necessarily mean that Lex Luthor will not appear in the show's fourth season, and Orpin's reaction could be due to him already knowing which actor will tackle the role. It's entirely possible, seeing as Orpin's character is a genetic clone of Luthor, that the show may even choose to age Orpin up himself to play the character. However or whoever the show chooses to portray Luthor, if he does make an appearance in Titans season 4 it is sure to send shockwaves through the group. Given that they are already reeling from the death of Alan Ritchson's Hank Hall and Jason's betrayal, Luthor's sudden arrival could spell even bigger problems for the team that is trying valiantly to piece themselves back together.
