So The Winning Nominee Isn't Always The Best

The 94th Academy Awards will determine which Oscar-nominated movies win Best Picture, but how do the nominees rank in Rotten Tomatoes? Ten total movies were nominated for Best Picture, including Belfast, Coda, Don't Look up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog, and West Side Story. The Oscars are voted on by Academy members, so the winning nominee isn't always the best-reviewed, but as the year's best movies, they're generally still among the year's best-reviewed movies. While most nominees generally have high Rotten Tomatoes scores, there's also plenty of movies with high Rotten Tomatoes scores that don't get nominated, especially if they're more commercial mainstream blockbusters, although some of those still get nominated, including a couple this year. Outside of the most prominent Tomatometer score, the review data in Rotten Tomatoes provides more details to compare to find trends between the 2021

The Deleted Scene Offers The First Look

Barry Keoghan's terrifying new Joker has finally been fully revealed by The Batman's deleted scene, but it's prompted one over-riding question: did Joker cut his own face off? That suggestion comes courtesy of The Batman's deleted Arkham scene, showing Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight interrogating Keoghan's villain about the Riddler's plan. Unlike the Arkham coda at the end of The Batman that initially revealed the character's existence, the deleted scene offers the first look at Barry Keoghan's Joker, scars and all. While Paul Dano's Riddler was the focal point of The Batman as the primary villain, Matt Reeves' reboot perfectly set the stage for a Gotham City already populated by multiple Batman Rogues Gallery characters. On top of Colin Farrell's Penguin, John Turturro's Carmine Falcone, the Riddler, and the proto-Joker, The Batman hid hints to Hush, Red Hood, and even Bane. Regardless of that depth, without a new Joker, Pattinson&#

. Recent Rumors Have Suggested That Conner's Genetic

Joshua Orpin, who plays Conner AKA Superboy on DC's Titans has taken to Instagram to shut down some season 4 casting rumors. While his character was first teased in the Titans season 1 finale, Australian actor Orpin did not join the show's ensemble cast until season 2. A genetically engineered clone created by Cadmus Labs from the DNA of both Superman and Lex Luthor, Conner possesses both the abilities and personality traits of both men. Last year Titans made the move from the now-defunct DC Universe streaming platform across to Warner Bros. own HBO Max platform. The characters themselves also saw a change of home, swapping San Francisco for the dangerous streets of a Batman-less Gotham City following the death of Jason Todd at the hands of the Joker. Following the popular Red Hood comic storyline, however, the Titans would soon discover that Jason was resurrected by Scarecrow's Jonathon Crane and had fallen under his influence. With season 3 ultimately seeing Crane recapt

Prompting Negative Reactions From Fans

After almost 10 years, Peaky Blinders season 6 has proved the show's biggest problem and its hardest challenge. The show had fairly humble beginnings following the Birmingham-based Shelby clan, headed by Cillian Murphy's Tommy, in their criminal exploits directly after the events of the First World War. But Peaky Blinders built an incredibly enthusiastic audience on the back of its compelling criminal organizations, wars with rival gangs, and flashes of hyper-violence. In stark contrast, Peaky Blinders season 6 is surprisingly slow and decidedly restrained, prompting negative reactions from fans. Tommy's Peaky Blinders season 6 story is notably slower and more contemplative than the seasons which have come before it, and so far is distinctly marked by a lack of severe brutality. Contrastingly, the season is more introspective and allows for a deeper look into Tommy's grief-stricken and war-torn psyche. Tommy Shelby, too, is overall a gentler character than he used to b

Blum Recently Stated He Is Working

Jason Blum has expressed interest in releasing 10 future Halloween films, which means Michael Myers may be slashing his way into theaters for many years to come. After nearly a decade away from the big screen, Blum's production company Blumhouse brought the knife-wielding killer back with a purpose, as last year's film was well received by fans and critics alike, and became the highest grossing slasher since Wes Craven's Scream. Reports of a follow-up began before Halloween was released, and while nothing has been made official, Blum recently stated he is working to get a sequel greenlit. However, it seems Michael could be sticking around for more than just a follow-up to last year's movie. The Halloween franchise has been taken in several different directions since the original film released in 1978, which has led to multiple timelines existing in the series. In the latest entry, director and co-writer David Gordon Green decided to create yet another timeline by ignor

Running Four Hours And Separated Into Six Chapters

Zack Snyder's Justice League recently released on HBO Max at twice the length of the theatrical cut. Running four hours and separated into six chapters and an epilogue, the Snyder Cut is a far cry from the poorly-received original film taken over by Avengers and Buffy the Vampire Slayer helmer Joss Whedon. However, die-hard fans may be surprised at the assumed Whedon flourishes that were Snyder all along. The Snyder Cut is an anomaly in popular culture, a fan-led effort to restore a Frankenstein's Monster of a film back to the vision of its original director that came about due to Warner Bros. being in the difficult position of having a theatrical release calendar wrecked by coronavirus and a desperate need for original content for the upcoming HBO Max launch. Snyder shot 100% of principal photography, but after the tragic death of his daughter Autumn, he had to step away in May 2017 from the film's troubled post-production process. At the time, Warner Bros. thought Snyder

In Her First Interaction With Joe At Moony's

Netflix's You checked many boxes: it was unique, scary in the right measure, had an edgy lead, and was occasionally even funny. What fans may not have noticed on their binge-watch of the addictive show is that it's also chock full of hidden details, easter eggs, and references that foreshadow the later events of the show, sometimes even a season in advance. A slower, closer watch would reveal that right from the first interaction that Beck had with Joe in season 1, till the very last scenes of season 3 had meaningful little facts and minutiae stashed away or in plain sight, and knowing what they mean would add a whole new layer to the show. Anavrin Was Referenced By Beck Several Times As the romantic leading lady in season 1, Beck was the center of attention. In her first interaction with Joe at Moony's, she speaks about Paula Fox, an author who also happens to be Courtney Love's grandmother. Courtney Love was married to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, thus making it an

They Do Collaborate Together On Certain Occasions

The music and film industry might not be intimately entwined, but they do collaborate together on certain occasions. One such example would be when celebrities from one industry set foot over into the other, either permanently or temporarily. Everybody knows Will Smith as a blockbuster movie star now, but many know that he first came under the limelight as a rapper by the name of  The Fresh Prince and even had his own TV show. Similarly, singers like Rihanna and Justin Timberlake are known as pop icons and best-selling music artists but boast quite an impressive and lengthy list of movies that they've starred in. The following list looks at 10 such people who haven't limited their artistic skills to just one medium, for better or worse. 108-Mile (2002) - Eminem Some people have Grammys. Some people have Oscars. Eminem has somehow managed to get both of them throughout his career spanning generations. It's not that there aren't other people out there who can boast the e

Doctor Strange Trainwreck and Independent Cinema

Tilda Swinton is undeniably one of the best beloved British actresses of all time, having starred in monumental films such as We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) and Orlando (1992), just to name two of her many incredible roles. Known for her unique, nuanced acting style and her roles in both blockbusters (Doctor Strange, Trainwreck) and independent cinema (appearing in Wes Anderson and Jim Jarmusch films), Tilda Swinton has received numerous accolades in her rich and varied career, including a British Academy Film Award, an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award, as well as nominations for five Critics' Choice Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and five Screen Actors Guild Awards. Swinton began her career by appearing in experimental films such as Derek Jarman’s Caravaggio (1986), followed by his films The Last of England (1988), War Requiem (1989), and The Garden (1990). She won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for her portrayal of Isabella of Fra

There are few Superheroes

There are few superheroes quite as beloved as Spider-Man. In his various movie incarnations, he has shown time and again that he has what it takes to endure significant heartache and yet continue to fight resolutely for what’s right. That is certainly the case with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which sees the title character struggling with numerous challenges, most of which hinge on the revelation of his real identity to the world. What’s more, many of the characters in the movie have some powerful quotes that articulate the main themes of the movie. J. Jonah Jameson On Spider-Man's Vigilantism “People Look Up To This Boy And Call Him A Hero. Well, I'll Tell You What I Call Him: Public Enemy Number One!” There are few characters who have been quite as enduring in the Spider-Man movies as J. Jonah Jameson, who remains one of J.K. Simmons best roles. In this movie, he once again trains his ire on the web-slinging hero, and in this quote he makes it abundantly clear that he has nothi

Shonda Rhimes Show Inventing Anna

Mastering an accent for a role can be a tall order for many performers, and cinema history is riddled with both flawless and frightful attempts. Even some of Hollywood’s brightest and gifted actors have a challenging time perfecting a foreign vernacular, but those that triumph often garner widespread praise and applause. When the impersonation works, it truly elevates the picture and character and makes for an absorbing and memorable good time; yet when the star stumbles, viewers are hyper-aware of the misstep. A lot of the attention on the new Shonda Rhimes show Inventing Anna, for instance, was directed at Julia Garner's odd accent. For every dazzling Daniel Day-Lewis accent and portrayal, there is bound to be a Keanu Reeves à la Bram Stoker’s Dracula thrown into the fold. While both actors give it their all and push to bring their on-screen personas to life, some accents fair far better than others. It appears that adopting an Irish accent is the bane of many star’s existence,
