Fan Reaction To No Time To Die Would Suggest That

Jason Isaacs reveals the hilarious reason why Daniel Craig is the perfect actor for James Bond. After first appearing in 2006's Casino Royale, Craig would go on to appear as the character in four subsequent movies including Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and, most recently, No Time To Die. Serving as Craig's swansong as the iconic British superspy, No Time To Die was released in the fall of 2021 and proved to be a hit with both fans and critics. After numerous delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie ultimately performed well at the box office, earning over $774 million.

While No Time To Die was mostly positively received, Craig's run as Bond has been filled with ups and downs. Casino Royale remains a favorite 007 movie for many fans but Craig's next outing, Quantum of Solace, is widely regarded as one of his lesser entries. Skyfall, however, once again proved that Craig's Bond is one of the more popular iterations of the character before Spectre would go on to once more prove generally disappointing. Fan reaction to No Time To Die would suggest that, while it has not quite reached the same heights as Casino Royale or Skyfall, it marks a significant improvement over Quantum of Solace and Spectre.

In a new interview with The Guardian, Isaacs, who is best known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise and who stars in the upcoming Operation Mincemeat, says that Craig is really the perfect actor to play Bond. Isaacs hilariously explains that, after having worked with Craig on a play in the early 1990s and discovering the actor's comfort with nudity, he came to believe that Craig is the ultimate actor for the character. Check out Isaacs' full comment below:

"...Daniel [Craig] was cast just after we’d done a play together [Angels in America]. He’s one of the only people on the planet who is more comfortable naked than with clothes on, which is why he has been – and will be – the perfect Bond for a long time to come."

James Bond movies, historically, have always involved nudity in one form or another. While any actual graphic nudity is covered up and the films remain either PG or PG-13 (despite some pleas for an R-rated 007), Bond's seductive nature is a key part of the character and he is frequently shown in bed with various love interests. While Isaac would seem to be at least partially joking, the actor's comments do make clear that appearing without clothes on was never going to be an issue for Craig in any of his Bond movies.

Although the future of the James Bond franchise is somewhat up in the air after No Time To Die and the bold decision to actually kill off Craig's version of Bond, many fans, especially younger ones, do consider Craig to have delivered the best iteration of the character yet. It remains to be seen who the next James Bond will be but Isaacs' comment does highlight the fact that whoever does take over the role will also have to be comfortable with nudity to some extent. James Bond is confident and suave and those traits should also carry over to the character's persona when not wearing clothes, something that Isaacs evidently believed Craig absolutely nailed.
